CHICAGO (CBS) — A 38-year-old man, Jonathan Morris, has been charged with attempting to carjack a 62-year-old woman just minutes after an attempted home invasion on the Near West Side of Chicago. The incident occurred on Monday just before 4 p.m. and Morris now faces multiple felony charges.

According to Chicago police, Morris was arrested and charged with aggravated attempted vehicle hijacking of a handicapped person, criminal trespass to residence, and aggravated battery of a victim aged 60 or over. He was identified as the individual who tried to steal the woman’s car in the 1100 block of South Laflin Avenue. Additionally, Morris was also charged in connection to an attempted home invasion that took place moments later in the same block.

Following his arrest, Morris was taken into custody and charged accordingly. He is set to appear at a detention hearing on Wednesday to address the charges brought against him.

As of now, no further information has been made available regarding the case.
